The word Mentor came from the Greeks and the French, but no matter how it got here: mentoring and the Rotary Club of Brighton (RCB) seem to be the perfect match!

Mentoring is one of those activities that doesn't cost money, doesn't require lots of time, nor large groups of people, but it is good for everybody involved. And.... RCB mentoring services are very much in demand.
In 2019 we will be providing mentors to RMIT, Victoria Police and International Baccalaureate students.
This University mentors which has delivered many successful and happy students. Our second year of mentoring commences later this quarter and we are looking forward to another successful and rewarding year with RMIT and students. (Please see the 2 articles relating to RMIT mentoring in 2018 on this website under 'Our Projects')

Victoria Police - presently two aspiring senior sergeants are being mentored by Mentors @ RCB through the Victoria Police Leaders Mentoring Program (VPLMP) which has an emphasis on Police - Community relations. The current program finishes in September and hopefully it will produce two new community minded police inspectors. We will be looking for more RCB VPLMP mentors for the next program later in the year.

International Baccalaureate students - after initial negotiations with St Leonards College, we are providing industry based mentors to final year International Baccalaureate (IB) students to review their end-of-year extended essays prior to submission. This adds real industry experience to their works, and hopefully better results for all. But wait, there's more; last month Brighton Secondary College was awarded IB provider accreditation and the Principal, Richard Minack, has approached RCB to provide a similar service for their IB students.

How you can assist - - if you your partner or talented friends have any industry or business experience and would like to 'put back' into our community, Mentors @ RCB, are holding an information workshop (with guest speakers) between 4.30 - 6pm prior to our regular club meeting on Thursday 28 March 2019 at Milanos Hotel. All you need to do is contact Alan Pinkus or Stuart McMillan at youthservices@rotarybrighton.com.au  to express an interest, and we'll do the rest.

January was Vocations month in Rotary and I think we can say RCB are putting in! A special thanks to our existing mentors for their dedication and success over the past 12 months.
