Rotary Projects Vietnam

Project Completed Successfully! On May 10, 2007, Assist International installed Four ICU medical workstations in the pediatric ward of the Cancer Hospital of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. This equipment has significantly improved the quality of health care for children being treated for cancer. This hospital services 50 million Vietnamese people living in the southern half of the country.

The project took five years to execute and involved many organizations. The incidence of children with certain childhood cancers is higher than in any other regional Asian countries, which doctors attribute in part to gene disorders resulting from the use of dioxins (Agent Orange) during the Vietnam War with the USA. Besides supporting chemotherapy treatment, the equipment is used for pain management as well. The equipment is expected to save five to ten lives a month. CU (Intensive Care Unit) includes vitals monitor, ventilator, bed, injection pump, respirator, aspirators, and infusion pump.
