BAYSPEAK is a youth public speaking competition for secondary school students around the Bayside region of Victoria run by the Rotary Clubs of Brighton, Brighton North and Sandringham

It is designed for secondary school students who: 

  • Want to improve their public speaking skills;
  • Want to test their public speaking ability against students from other schools in the Bayside area;
  • Want to win cash prizes for the best speakers.

Rotary - Youth Service Month
May 2025, is Rotary Youth Services Month.
 
Our club is involved in a number of youth related projects, details of which can be found under the 'News' tab or on the Home page.
 
Supporting BayCISS Education Support Program
Since its establishment in 2008, the BayCISS Education Support Program has been making a significant impact on the lives of students in the local community.
 
With the generous support of the Rotary Club of Brighton Charitable Foundation, this program has provided invaluable resources and financial assistance to over 2,400 students.
 
In May 2025, a further $15,500 was donated to the Education Support Program from proceeds of the club's Great Bayside Swim held in January 2025.

Brighton Classic Car Show 2025
The Brighton Classic Car Show was held on 30 March 2025 it was a superb event for classic car enthusiasts and families alike. Taking place at Firbank Grammar, 51 Outer Crescent in Brighton, this years' event attracted 131 Classic Cars, plus a large crowd to view the cars on display.

Rotary Youth Sailing Challenge
As part of Rotary Club of Brighton’s commitment to Youth Services, our club sponsors a lot of young people with personal development programs and unique opportunities to optimise their potential. The Rotary Youth Sailing Challenge, is a new Youth program that was offered for the first time in 2023 by District 9800, to coincide with the 2023 Melbourne Rotary International Convention.
 
The program was again supported by our club with sailings taking place in September 2024, plus January & April 2025.
 
On the 4th April 2025, 10 eager student sailors, supported by an experienced crew on the tall ship The Enterprise, headed off for the 4 day voyage around Port Phillip Bay. All students were sponsored by Rotary.

National Model United Nations Assembly
The Rotary Club of Brighton supported a number of high school students to compete in the Rotary District 9800 Model United Nations Assembly (MUNA) in May 2024. Two of the students, Nicholas Michele and Kenneth Yeung from Brighton Grammar were the event’s winning debating team. 
 
Over the weekend 17 - 18 August 2024, the boys travelled to Canberra to represent our Rotary District in the Rotary’s 25th National MUNA at the historic House of Representatives Chamber in Canberra’s Old Parliament House (now the Museum of Australian Democracy - MoAD).

24 Hour Public Access Defibrillator – Rotary In Action
Rotary Club of Brighton Charitable Foundation, with the assistance of a Rotary District 9800 Foundation Grant, has donated a 24hr Public Access Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Tower outside the new Brighton Life Saving Club & Beach House Café buildings, visible from the bathing boxes and the beach.
 
On Saturday November 16, 2024 the Rotary Club of Brighton & Brighton Life Saving Club launched the first 24hr Public Access Automated External Defibrillator.
