RCB Bulletin Thursday 23 May 2024
Another busy week with Board meetings, Bayspeak and Narina’s presentation night last Thursday. Narina’s presentation, message and statistics on Rotary are essential reading, highlighting the challenges in Rotary and our Club, and the reasons for the forthcoming changes in the way our Club operates. I think we can all agree changes need to be made. Her powerpoint presentation is displayed below.

Friday – what a big day as it was The Brighton Lunch courtesy of Team Bentley, great to see the support from members, those that were able to
sit back and enjoy the lunch as well as those who slaved away doing a
great job in the Back Office:  Wendy Davis (also on the Organising Committee), Heather Stacy, Glenys Hitchen, Felicity Cullen, Stuart McMillan, Angie Biggin, Anthony Langley, Paul Laband, Di Allan, Stephanie Hunt. Also Max Martin for Graphic Design and Cameron Ward for the Audio Visuals did a great job for the Main Event and the After Party.

Bayspeak Heat Two at Mentone Girls Grammar went well, thanks also to those who assisted - Narina Amvazas, Tina O'Donnell, David Smyth, Nicole Chong, and new member Alexandra Florea. Heat Three will be on Tuesday night 21 May at Brighton Grammar.

The only low notes of the week were the performance of Carlton Friday night and my golf at hackers on Saturday morning – the only difference is that at least Carlton started well. Never mind, there is always next week, although that way the Blues are travelling it might be next year !!!.

Next Thursday
A reminder that next Thursday is a joint meeting with RC Brighton North. Cameron Spence is an old school friend of Rob Sinclair from E&S Trading and managed to get Rob to talk to the Clubs. It should be a great night.

That’s it from me, hope to see all of you Thursday.

Pres Elect Narina Amvazas presentation
Narina shared that meetings will change next year and that we will experiment with one monthly speaker night with the other weekly meetings changing to project nights and one social night each month. The venue for our speaker nights will be the Brighton Baths and the speaker nights will be promoted more broadly in the community and they will be a different format. Narina shared the plans for 2024/25 at a high level and will share more details about how these nights will work.

Vale Trevor Martyn

It is with sadness that we advise the death of past RCB member
Trevor Martyn OAM on 14th May. Trevor joined our Club in 2001 and was one
of the hard-working members of our club for a number of years. He was also heavily involved in Mayflower where he served with distinction as it's Chair.
He is also remembered for his vibrant Sergeant's sessions.
Our thoughts are with Judy and family.

The Brighton Lunch Friday 17 May 2024 Highlights
Over 610 people attended this annual event and by all accounts it went very well with all Live Auction items selling.  Some of the identities attending were Rita Panahi, Tim Wilson, James Newberry, Elliot Goblet and Zoe Daniels. The After Party attracted over 400 people and was in full swing at the Brighton Beach Hotel. Another successful 'Team Bentley' event. Well done guys.
