2024 Science & Engineering Challenge

The Victorian final for the 2024 Science and Engineering Challenge was held at Deakin Geelong on September 5. Earlier this year in June, Deakin Burwood hosted a 2 day event with the new Rotary Club of Brighton initiative Science and Engineering Challenge which had 12 high schools competing with a number of activities which saw Koonung Secondary College and Auburn High School as winners of these heat days. Winners from the state finals will now go onto compete inthe 2024 National Final which will be held in Townsville, QLD on Friday 25 October.

St Leonards 2025 School Captain announced

Congratulations to Amelie Taylor (third from the left), who has been appointed as the 2025 St Leonard’s College School Captain! Amelie was the Vice President of the St Leonard’s College Interact Club. This Club was chartered by the Rotary Club of Brighton in 2022 and young people are mentored by Rotarians to develop a range of leadership and fundraising/project management skills. Amelie was earlier this year awarded as the 2024 Young Bayside Citizen of the Year, continues to play an active role as a Bayside
Youth Ambassador and has been very active in the Bayside and school community for a number of years.
Amelie is the daughter of Jo Kwok and husband Shaun.

The Rotary Club of Brighton proudly supports young people to develop their leadership potential with a range of youth and vocational services projects. We will be supporting a number of high school students in Rotary programs coming up: during the September School holidays some Brighton Secondary College students will be part of the Rotary Youth Sailing Challenge and in October a number will participate in the RYPEN Camp (Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment).
