It was wonderful to see so many members, friends, and family come together at the fellowship event on Monday night at Akaba Japanese Restaurant.
The energy in the room was contagious, and I can’t help but imagine this becoming a regular feature on the Rotary calendar. Supporting local businesses while enjoying each other's company truly embodies
the spirit of Rotary and everything we stand for.
I’m thrilled to share some exciting news - Glenys Hitchen has been honoured with the Australian Sailing Award for Official of the Year 2024 for Victoria. This remarkable achievement means Glenys will now represent Victoria at the National Awards in Sydney. Huge congratulations to her! (See details below.)
Glenys’s award made me pause and reflect on the incredible caliber of our club’s members. From industry leaders to numerous recipients of the Order of Australia, I couldn’t help but feel immense pride in being part of such a distinguished group of individuals. The way each of you exemplifies “Service Above Self” every day is nothing short of inspiring, and I am grateful to be surrounded by such exceptional people.
Here’s to many more moments of fellowship, service, and recognition of the extraordinary talent within our Rotary family!

Paws for Polio walk
Sunday October 6 at Elsternwick Park
All D9800 clubs are invited to attend this great event. Last year we had good support from the Rotary Club of Brighton. This year RPM will be joined by RC of Nth Balwyn who will be in charge of the traditional Rotary BBQ. Dogs will be catered for of course with home made biscuits for sale.
Pictured above. 1. Photo wall. 2. Brendan wearing his Dogs for Polio bandana. For sale $15.00 all funds go to End Polio. 3. Our pawsome RPM Member.
Participants can choose a short course around the dog park or begin their
End Polio Month walk by a 5 or 10 km walk. Hoomans and 4 pawed walkers
have plenty of choice.
Mayor Fiona Stilwell and Polio survivor Shirley Glance OAM will be cutting the ribbon to start everyone off. The District End Polio team led by Dr Murray Verso and Jane Pennington will be there too. I’m aiming to have DG Michael turn up so we can be part of Michael’s Magical Minute on FB.
We are aiming for a minimum of once around the park for those who have paws. Jane has mapped out 2 special "Human” walks for those who are doing Walk with Us for October, the End Polio month. The 5km and 10 km walk will give them a solid start. The link for booking for this event is:
