Over the last two weeks the Rotary Club of Brighton and North Brighton Rotarty Rotarians and friends have volunteered to support 150 Year 10 students with mock interviews. This is a rewarding opportunity our Club have been involved in for the last 6 years to help students prepare in their job seeking endeavours and for work experience.
On Wednesday, the Rotary Clubs of Bayside (Brighton, Brighton North and Sandringham) hosted Heat 3 of the BayspeakCompetition at Firbank Grammar. An amazing array of middle and senior school students from the Bayside area showcased their very impressive public speaking skills. The young orators spoke on a variety of self selected topics which they presented with great passion and enthusiasm, making some very compelling points to the assembled audience, who were left with lots of food for thought. Due to the outstanding calibre of the participants, our judges were left with some very tough decisions to pick who would be the winners and finalists of the night and go on to compete at the Bayspeak finals on June 2. Congratulations to all that who have taken part! #thefutureisbright #onestowatch #youth
Thank you all that participated, to the supporting schools, teachers and parents, and also very importantly all that volunteers on the night and behind the scenes! The Rotary Club of Brighton are very proud to be one of the Bayside Rotary Clubs to support local youth with a range of opportunities to develop their potential

Our Speaker 5 June Meeting
Mark Talbot, Fitzroy Real Estate
"Walk the strip". The Magic Of Church Street.
Magic for the shoppers, Magic for the shopkeepers
and Magic for the shop owners.
However, Church Street is much more, it is a village and social function for Brighton and increasingly for surrounding suburbs.
Mark is a highly successful commercial real estate agent and a Director and Partner of Fitzroys, one of Melbourne’s leading commercial real estate firms. Fitzroys also specialises in retail strip shopping centres and more particularly in the sale, leasing and management of property and as far as Church Street is concerned he knows more about it than anyone else.
Fitzroys have already declared Church Street is the most successful shopping strip in Melbourne with its comprehensive range of services and wide representation of national and local named businesses.
The Church Street influence extends to a vibrant precinct with services that are not in other centres. Should be a fascinating topic.
Booking for this meeting to be advised closer to the date.

Happy Mother’s Day!
"Today it is Mother’s Day in Brazil too and I celebrate it with my family. It is so good to have lunches like that with everyone, so we can celebrate life, health and happiness. But i confess that this year i am missing a part of my family who lives in Australia."Love Mariah
