RCB Bulletin Thursday 16 November 2023

President’s weekly message

Another week, another Melbourne Cup, and so the year rolls on. It means Christmas is coming up fast, and also that planning for our Christmas function is well underway. After looking at various options and costs, we have decided this year to have a special Christmas Cocktail Party at the West Brighton Club. Our Fellowship Director extraordinaire Geoff Cunningham is putting the final touches on a special Garden party, it promises to be at the usual high Fellowship standard, so make sure you book early to guarantee yourself a spot.

This week’s speaker is Bruce Wolpe, a Senior Fellow at the United States Studies Centre at the University of Sydney. He is also a renowned author and regular commentator on US politics for Sky News, ABC News and 2CC. PP Tom Buxton has been stalking Bruce for 7 years and finally got him to surrender and agree to talk to us. So, get ready for a great night.

PP David Grodski spoke on Thursday with one of his excellent ideas for the night – could all Rotarians please bring a guest to the meeting. I think this is a great idea and took up the challenge by inviting two guests. So, a plea to all members to see if you can match this.

Look forward to seeing you on Thursday.

President Arthur Hubbard
