It was Sports Trivia Mayhem last week and the winners came home with the chocolates. Here's a couple of the questions:

VP Ian Stacy then gave us an Regional Update.
In summary:

iii. Community Group replaces Cluster Group. Michael Stillwell from

Meeting Highlights

President Donna Wright's goals for 2024-2025

  1. Work to ensure Brighton Rotary:
  • is a progressive, vibrant, and diverse Club,
  • where members are strong advocates of the Club and proud to be members
  • has a net growth and a diversity in new membership
  1. Accelerate the new member transition of the Club so that:
  • All newer members (less than 5 years membership):
    • have meaningful roles in Rotary activities
    • are fully engaged
    • increasingly lead, own, manage and/or direct the Club
  • our established members increasingly transition to:
    • providing support for newer members,
    • increased mentoring and guidance
    • Move away from leadership per se
  1. Provide direction and leadership to ensure:
  • All key activities within the Club are co-ordinated (understanding links)
  • Strong governance in everything the Club
  • Meetings are professional with a wide range of speakers and activities
  • Social activities are fun, varied and tailored to various groups of membership (one size does not fit all).

Last Week's Raffle Results

Last week the raffle was run by PP Alan Pinkus with the help of Vicki.
The winners were: Roger Fairlam & Jill Barr.

Container No 1 of 3 sent to the remote community of Tabubil was distributed to a variety of schools and community groups.

This project was initiated by the Rotary Club of Brighton, a member of DIK Inc, in partnership with Rotary Passport Melbourne.

Two members from Rotary Passport Melbourne, who are on the ground in Tabubil, managed the community assessment and distribution. Ok Tedi Mines arranged the shipping from the Port of Brisbane to Port Moresby and then to Kiunga.

Starwest Constructions, who purchased the containers, managed the challenging 150-kilometer road transport to one of their secure warehouses. Under the watchful eye of the Rotary Passport Melbourne members, the Starwest team sorted the items for distribution.

None of this would have been possible without DIK's incredible commitment to
such projects.                                                           Story Colleen d'Offay
