How award winning wildlife films are made

Emmy Award winning film makers  David Parer and Liz Parer-Cook who have produced and filmed blue chip natural history  documentaries and have been winners of over 130 Australian and International Awards

More recently the Parers have made highly  successful films about icon Australian animals such as Platypus, Tasmanian Devils and Penguins and Parrots.

At Thursday 27th April meeting they will show clips from their films and speak about some of their adventures filming Killer Whales, Land lguanas in active volcanoes and Platypus ( for their popular new book " Platypus, the world's strangest animal".

This promises to be a memorable night for members, partners and guests

Donald Trump, a perspective on US politics

  • Associate Professor Timothy Lynch is the Director of the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Melbourne University will provide his perspectives on Donald Trump for the US and the world.
  • Tim is a Fulbright scholar, he holds a PhD in political science from Boston College, Massachusetts.
  • He is the author of Turf War: The Clinton Administration and Northern Ireland and co-author of the best-selling After Bush: The Case for Continuity in American Foreign Policy, which won the Richard Neustadt Book Prize.
  • He is also Editor-in-Chief of the new two-volume Oxford Encyclopedia of American Military and Diplomatic History.
  • Tim is a regular commentator for Sky News and ABC TV and radio in Australia, the BBC and Al Jazeera in the UK, and C-SPAN and NPR in the US. His editorials have appeared in The Age, the Guardian, the Herald Sun, and the Wall Street Journal.

A new 21st Century light rail express train to Melbourne airport

Our speaker on Thursday 11th May, Peter O Brien has developed many businesses and projects in Asia, the Middle East and Oceania.

 Peter is currently making a significant contribution to infrastructure development in Melbourne  currently working on developing a new 21st Century light rail express train from Melbourne's CBD to Melbourne Airport (airshuttleaust.com.au).

Peter is also an adviser to a consortium developing a Surf Park for Melbourne Docklands.

Peter is a visionary entrepreneur who brings vision, dynamism and long-standing experience to projects in the areas of 21st Century transport, tourism, catering and urban development. He is supported by project teams comprised of specialists in their fields such as architects, engineers, advertising executives, legal specialists, finance specialists and tourism experts.

 In Peter’s earlier life he was a Rotary Club Exchange Student to Trumansburg New York , USA ( near Cornell) .
