Meeting Thursday 28 February: Speaker Jan Trezise OAM

Next >

Jan Trezise is known as a pioneer for worldy causes. She was the first female mayor of Springvale – home for hundreds of refugees fleeing post-war Vietnam in the 1980s. She was the inaugural co-ordinator of Springvale Community Aid and Advice Bureau’s (SCAAB) migrant host scheme.

There will be two aspects to her talk.
1.   Their book "From Timor-Leste to Australia". Seven Families. Three Generatios. Tell their stories. The stories of these seven families who fled East Timor in the 1970s are woven into the history of East Timor. They have all settled into the south eastern suburbs of Melbourne and they are delighted to publish their stories.
 2.    Friends of Ermera – our education and training work in the Ermera Municipality of Timor Leste.
