Not long now until Great Australia Day Swim 2018

The next Swimland Great Australia Day Swim is being held on Friday, January 26 2018. Presented by The Rotary Club of Brighton, the opportunity to enter the open water events or junior dash for this iconic Aussie event and FUNdraise for some worthy causes. All proceeds from the Swimland Great Australia Day Swim will be used by Rotary to support charities and community organisations providing support to disadvantaged children and youths. These include: Swim Vietnam and BayCISS

Open Water Swim Events being held:

1400 m Open Water Swim – a clockwise course around the Middle Brighton pier and breakwater from the pier to the Finish gate on the beach

2500m Open Water Swim – a more challenging course around a marked circuit, finishing around the breakwater to the beach

650 m Intermediate Swim – a shorter course from the Northern end of the Royal Brighton Yacht Club marina to the beach

Swimland Junior Dash – a 300 m swim from the landing on the Middle Brighton Pier to the beach for 10-12 YO’s, and a shorter course for 8 and 9 YO’s

New in 2018:

Swimmers can enter and compete in the 650m and 1400m Open events for both an individual and a team award – at no additional entry fee

We are continuing to offer a 2500m event (replacing the previous 5km event), to suit a wider range of swimmers

Southern FM 88.3 will perform a live broadcast from the event
