Rotary (Regional Youth in Sailing

Some years ago the Rotary Club of Brighton supported by sister Bayside Clubs and Sandringham Yacht Cub initiated  a youth sailing program for male and female youths in the Regional areas of Victoria, who may not otherwise have the opportunity to experience the  joy and exhilaration of sailing on Port Phillip Bay.

The 2015 program has been re-scheduled to be run from March 17th to 19th this year as it was concluded the weather and water temperature is generally warmer, thus allowing for increased activities.

Thanks to members of the Bayside Rotary Clubs for providing accommodation, plus the Skippers and Crews of  two large (40’ plus) yachts who have volunteered their time, we are again seeking Regional Clubs to sponsor one or more youths from the region to participate.

The cost per each youth to a sponsor club is only $75 this year, it has been reduced considerably in order to have as many youths as possible be given the opportunity. The Rotary Club of Brighton and other participating Bayside clubs will underwrite any shortfall.

A number of youths who have been part of the RYIS Team previously  have also expressed their desire to participate again and they are more than welcome , subject primarily to overall numbers who apply.

Feel free to contact Norm Thomas , Director of the Rotary Club of Brighton and Chairman,  Rotary (Regional)Youth in Sailing  nortom@bigpond.net.au
