Bayside Happenings - Rotary Club of Brighton
friend The Heart of Bayside

Hello friend

What better name for a newsletter talking about all the good things that happen in Bayside, the community served by the Rotary Club of Brighton and stories about the wonderful warm people who are an integral part of Bayside - our new name "The Heart of Bayside".

Enjoy the first edition under our new banner.

Speaking of enjoyment, have a wonderful Christmas and a rewarding, fulfilling new year.

We'd love to tell our readers positive things about the everything that makes Bayside such a great place to be part of. If you have a story to tell we'd like to hear from you on editor@rotarybrighton.com.au.

Story Telling Dogs

Who would have thought that dogs could help primary school children with reading difficulties learn to read?  An initiative by one Brighton resident has done just that, with the program now reaching 20 schools across Melbourne.

History of the Anzac Hostel, North Road

Most people have passed this historic building without knowing its long history of helping Anzacs since 1919.  It's still used today by Diggers.

Young Children Start School on a Positive Note

From a withdrawn pre-schooler to a confident 5-year old, ready to start in the "Big School", Emma wants to be a vet when she grows.  Mentoring by Bayside volunteers makes it all possible.
