This year's Brighton Lunch raises awareness for mental health, promoting the importance of early intervention and removing the stigma often associated with mental health conditions. In Australia, it's estimated that 45 per cent of people will experience a mental health condition in their lifetime and we are fortunate to have a number of inspiring and courageous speakers to share their stories.
- Jeff Kennett AC - former Premier of Victoria, and founding chairman of beyond blue, current Hawthorn FC president and the Torch foundation. Jeff has been instrumental in raising awareness for mental health and seeks to dismantle the stigma surrounding depression and anxiety.
- Grant Hackett OAM - Australia’s swimming “king of the pool”. Grant held the Olympic and World Records for the 1500m and has earned three Olympic Gold medals. A true Australian, winning more major medals than any other Australian, his 32 Olympic and world medals, second only to American swim star Michael Phelps.
- Olivia Rogers - speech pathologist Olivia Rogers was a “nerdy” kid who battled anxiety and depression — but now she’s ready to talk up after being crowned Miss Universe Australia 2017.
- Wayne Schwass - premiership AFL Kangaroo and mental health advocate, Wayne battled silently with his own mental health for much of his sporting career. He is now a dedicated mental health advocate, committed to raising awareness about mental health, emotional wellbeing and suicide prevention.
